The Demand for Real Christmas Trees

Artificial intelligence. Artificial images. Artificial everything.

We live in an era where anyone can generate an image or video of anything. Thanks to the insane technology inside our phones and computers, we can make our dreams come to life on our screens in less than a minute. The only thing that seems to limit what A.I. can create is our imagination.

Regardless of how impressive that is, it has its drawbacks too. Any time we get online, we are inundated with artificial intelligence. During the holidays, you’ll no doubt come across countless  images and videos of beautiful scenes of snow covered evergreens and crackling fires burning inside of a cozy cabin fireplace. As lovely as all of this winter wonderland imagery is, we know that theres a better-than-good chance that it’s not real.

We start to feel overwhelmed when we can’t trust our own eyes and ears to detect what is real or fake. As a result, the pendulum has begun to swing back the other way, toward things that are unquestionably authentic. Along with that craving for authenticity comes a renewed interest in the ways and priorities of simpler times. Activities that pull our loved ones away from their devices and bring the whole family together have become more important than ever before.

The holidays are the best time to renew family traditions! Traditions like picking out a real Christmas tree check the box for authenticity and family fun. What is more fun than loading the family up in the car and picking out a Christmas tree and then decorating it together?

That’s the appeal of a real Christmas tree. It gives us something we can touch, smell, choose and experience together. In a world where so much can be manufactured or simulated, there’s something especially satisfying about bringing something real home for Christmas. Afterall, a beautiful picture of a Christmas tree won’t fill your living room with the scent of fresh fir.

When everything can be artificial, real feels special

Technology has its place. It helps us work, stay connected and get through a very long to-do list. But Christmas offers a chance to make room for experiences that happen away from a screen.

Walking between rows of fresh-cut trees. Brushing your hand across the branches. Stepping back to imagine where the ornaments will go. Discovering that the tree everyone finally agrees on has one slightly crooked branch—and deciding that’s part of its charm.

A real tree doesn’t need to be identical to the one in a catalog. Its shape, texture and character make it your tree. Once the lights and familiar ornaments go on, those little differences become part of this year’s Christmas.

The attraction is easy to understand: it’s a one of a kind, living decoration. Its scent transports you to another time with memories of Christmases passed. The fact that it won’t be around for long reminds us that everyday during the holidays is special and should be savored, becuase it doesn’t last forever.

Picking out the tree is part of the gift

Buying a real live-cut Christmas tree isn’t a shopping trip. It’s a tradition = an afternoon your family looks forward to every year.

You pile into the car. Someone insists there’s room for a bigger tree this time. Someone else remembers what happened when you tried that last year. You walk around, compare favorites and eventually find the one that feels right.

Then comes the trip home, the rearranging of furniture and the annual discussion about whether the tree is straight.

These are small, ordinary moments that give the season its personality. Choosing a real tree creates an occasion to be together before the holiday calendar fills up with everything else.

For families starting new traditions—or returning to old ones—that experience can be as meaningful as the decorated tree itself.

Christmas you can actually smell

A fresh-cut Christmas tree brings another dimension to holiday decorating: fragrance.

The lights make the room glow. The ornaments tell your family’s stories. The scent of your fresh-cut tree, wreaths, garlands and greenery from Patton’s Christmas Trees adds something you notice even when you aren’t looking at the tree.

It greets you when you walk into the room. It becomes part of quiet mornings, evenings on the couch and the anticipation of Christmas getting closer.

Fresh wreaths and garlands can carry that same natural feeling to the front door, mantel or other favorite gathering spaces. You don’t have to decorate every inch of the house to give it a welcoming holiday atmosphere.

Sometimes, a tree, a few meaningful ornaments and a little fresh greenery are plenty.

The sights, sounds and smells of Christmas come into focus, reminding us that this is the time to soak up the priceless moments we’ve been given with our family and friends.

A real Christmas tree is just like the holiday season – it doesn’t last forever. That is one of the beautiful aspects of having one. Your Christmas tree is a one-of-a-kind, living reminder of how special, yet fleeting this time of year is. So, enjoy it while you have the chance.

A fresh-cut Christmas tree offers us many things. It offers us nostalgia.  It offers us a daily reminder that time moves fast and the holidays won’t last forever. And as a result of that reminder, it offers us an invitation to be present and savor each moment of the holiday season.
